1967 Gordon and Smith-Skip Frye Model 9’ 8"

Definitely one of the most outstanding models from the mid 60s. This amazing find comes from the original owner who bought the board in near flawless condition in 1967. One of the best performing boards that holds up to its reputation, even by current standards. Skip Frye was a very successful competitor consistently using the ’Frye’ model following its development.

Many of the best surfers and designers worked for G&S during this time; Mike Hynson, Barry Kanaiaupuni, Butch Van Artsdalen and Dale Dobson. Three of the most influential designs of the period come out of the G&S label and the Skip Frye model was one (Hynson Red Fin and The Stretch were the other two).

This nearly perfect gem comes with its original black W.A.V.E. set fin in perfect condition. Both the G&S logo and the Skip Frye eagle are bright and perfect. This special classic is very nearly mint, free of dents, only minor scruffs that would very easily buff out. A definite museum quality piece, even still shows the fabulous green volan tint and deck patch against white foam.

This board is actually better than the photos show, the strange area on the rail was a photo glitch, the board is nearly flawless!
A rare find and very desirable board in stunning all original condition.

Pre-auction estimate $3,000.-$4,000. Low reserve
